Making

Black Fire is a very special world in its creation. It was created as the result of a joke at a party for the results of a photo contest organized by the Exploreurs Imaginaires group. It was supposed to be a small world, you would spawn right at the campfire with the view of the black hole and that was supposed to be it, no video player, pens or anything, just a small scene. But while working on it I got very inspired with my boyfriend and we shared many ideas for the world which got me super excited, and so I decided to expend the project and make it what it is today.

Award

Recently Black Fire was nominated by the community at the VR Community Awards in the Artistic Direction category, a community vote based award show hosted by Puck in association with several groups. This February the event happened and I was surprised to see that Black Fire won the Award it was nominated for!To me it really is something special. When I started playing VRChat back in 2018-2019 I could have never expected to make it this far, having so many people recognizing my work and enjoying it.I began creating worlds and avatars in my free time after high school to pass time but it became something I truly enjoyed making over time, learning how to optimize the worlds because I couldn't understand why some worlds out there that looked amazing ran better than mine, how to make and bake lighting in a scene, trials and errors...I'm still learning today and it feels great to get better at what I do. I have a lot of self-confidence issues and find it hard to recognize my own work as good, but with everyone around me telling me that I make great stuff it becomes a little easier each day ♥Thank you!

Story

The story of the world can be read in the VRChat world engraved in stones in an ancient way, but if you are having troubles reading it due to its font style here is the text:(Update: the world was updated to include an easier to read font while still having a bit of stylisation.)🇬🇧 EnglishThe sacred taleO you who gaze upon these words inscribed in the rock, learn the tale of the Exploreurs Imaginaires, companions of adventure and shared visions. In distant times a gathering was held under the stars, celebrating the light and warmth of campfires, those fragile flames braving the vastness of celestial darkness. It came to pass that a contest was declared where each traveler was to capture, through the enchanted eye of an image, the very essence of the sacred fire. One of the leaders of the guild observed the creation of an explorer, renowned for his amusing words about the dark chasms of the cosmos. He whispered that this image lacked the shadow of a black hole, that mysterious entity which devours even light itself. And so, laughter echoed through the air, mingling with the embers and the stars. For the explorer admitted that even finding a world where fire could burn was no small quest, and that to add a black hole, a force that robs from eyes and hearts all that dares approach, would exceed ordinary powers. From this lighthearted exchange filled with friendship and imagination was born the dream of a world where fire and darkness would coexist where even the stars would be challenged by the humor of bold explorers.May these words endure across the ages for those who will continue to seek to unite:Clarity and night,
dream and infinity.

History

Bloss's Garden is a special world centered around my OCs. The world description reads as follow:A vast flower field of cempasuchils and glowing lights‚ home of Bloss and the Blooms․But who is Bloss, and who are the Blooms?

Bloss is the name of my fursona, it's my main avatar on VRChat. He is a plant kitsune with a flower crown and calavera makeup. The Blooms are tiny red foxes, they are companions of Bloss and can be summoned at will by Bloss. Each Bloom embodies one of Bloss's personality trait. Those characters have lore, a lot of lore but even though I never published it fully anywhere I will maybe do it one day, so far it lives rent-free in my head. This world is directly based on the lore of my characters.

Technical aspect

Bloss's Garden was a really interesting world to work on. It may seem simple but there's some things under the hood that got me brain-storming to achieve the vision I had of the world.Let's take the main element of the world: the cempasuchil field.

Each flowers are made of billboards (2D flat textures) and 3D models, those 3D models glows in a unified pattern, spreading seamlessly to the horizon.
You can see that there's no end to the glow, and that going to a glow area shows the flowers glowing/following the pattern:

At first the world only had 2D billboard flowers with no emission. It looked nice but was missing the glowing flowers that I had in mind for the world. Then I figured out how to add an emission with 3D flowers, it looked nicer but it was a still, unchanging emission and only around the player. There was no glow in the distance since it's impossible to render terrain details to crazy distances without terrible performances. Then I've finally figured out how to have glowing flowers on an infinite distance! But since it would be impossible to just crank up the details distance, rendering millions and millions of 2D billboards and 3D flowers, I used a trick to blend/transition "real" flowers glow with "fake" flowers glow... Here's how!I used Poiyomi Toon Shaders to mask a glowing texture depending on the camera's far distance from the player and making it match the terrain's detail distance, so it transitions smoothly between both:

Emission of the 3D flowers. Notice the UVs of the Emission Map being set to World Pos.This allows the Emission Map to use World Coordinates, allowing the GameObject to be mapped independantly of their own UVs. This allows both the flowers and the terrain to share the same UV space.

Emission of the terrain. Notice the usage of a Global Mask for the Emission Mask (set to 1R) allowing for the distance transition effect (setup shown below), as well as the UVs of the Emission Map being set to World Pos.

The setup of the Global Mask for the terrain. Distance Masking is enabled and set to Pixel Position.Min Distance is the distance within which the effect (here the emission) won't show. Since the minimum value set in Min Distance Alpha below is 0, it won't show from the player's current position to 20 meters in front of them.Max Distance is the distance where the effect will be at its maximum value. Since the value of 1 is set in Max Distance Alpha below it will be fully on once reached. In short, see this as a black and white gradient where 20 and under (Min Distance) is black so no emission and 150 and beyond (Max Distance) is white and so full emission.

I've adjusted the values of the shaders and the terrain for Android so the fade happens earlier/closer to the player, to adjust to the lower GPU/CPU power of Android devices. This effect took me a while to figure out on my own and made it possible to have the effect I had in mind at all, greatly enhancing the performances too and making it possible to show on Quest/Android!The rest isn't as technical but is also worth mentionning:Since the flowers are 3D I made them GPU Instanced. Here is the definition from Unity's documentation:GPU instancing is a draw call optimization method that renders multiple copies of a mesh with the same material in a single draw call. Each copy of the mesh is called an instance. This is useful for drawing things that appear multiple times in a scene, for example, trees or bushes.GPU instancing renders identical meshes in the same draw call. To add variation and reduce the appearance of repetition, each instance can have different properties, such as Color or Scale.(Source)I'm also using LODs (Level Of Detail) for the trees and roses in the scene to make them use a low quality version of themselves when far away from the player. More info about it here on Unity's Documentation. And also, textures on Android are lower resolution to reduce the world's size and make it use less VRAM since mobile devices tends to have less of it.

History

In the future, humanity has managed to live on Ganymede, one of Jupiter's moon, under a giant biodome. Discover how humans deal with Ganymede's challenges such as ressources, economy and more.Little robots will tell you about each key aspect of Ganymede's survival, they are a crucial part of the experience so make sure to interact with all of them!

Making

LO-5 | The Ganymede Project was created exclusively under 2 months for the VRChat Space Jam 2, a world contest hosted by VRChat and the National Space Society of Australia (NSSA).The theme I chose to participate in was:Sustainable Space, Resilient EarthThese worlds should focus on environments that support people living, working, and thriving in sustainable communities beyond the Earth. (Source)Choosing the theme was a bit complicated as there was a lot of good potential themes to choose from, but I ultimately settled on a giant biodome at the surface of Ganymede, one of Jupiter's moon.I made a song for the intro of the world using FL Studio, audio design is something very important to me, it is what makes an experience stand out when associated with good visuals.2 months wasn't a lot of time to create everything I had in mind, there was supposed to be way more content such as a stadium to do exocraft races and store interiors but working on my own on VRChat projects means only so much stuff able to be made in so much time.LO-5 Stands for Lunar Oasis 5. In this universe, there are many Lunar Oasis all around Ganymede and each of them can be seen from space when you are experiencing the world's intro. Look for the city lights on the dark side of Ganymede.

Award

LO-5 | The Ganymede Project won the Space Jam 2 in the Runner-Ups category!

Following this award I was given a trophy that can be seen in the world at the center of the flower parc.

History

Respite Island Remastered is a remake of one of my world, Respite Island that I originally made back in 2021, and decided to give it a second breath by remaking it from scratch with the knowledge I gained from world making throughout the years. It features a lot of games and activities, such as Chess, Trivia, Arcade Machines and drink systems. It's a world to chill in and rest among the stars, on an island orbiting Saturn.

The original world was pretty simple but had the same main elements as the remastered one: a beach, Saturn in the background and everything on a floating island in space. The remaster aimed to expend on that, to take the unique setting of the world and make it a place people will want to stay in to either chill, chat or play games with friends or new people. Here are some comparaison between both worlds. The first photo will always be the original and the second the remaster.

There are several lighting improvements with AudioLink support, a video player and much more activities to take part in and have fun and I am very happy with the results!I was supposed to work on an update of the world recently but lost the files of the world so wasn't able to fix the issues such as the ambient occlusion being broken, but I will maybe in the future work on the files of the Quest/Android version to re-build the PC version that I lost, effectively remastering the remaster...

Commissions Terms Of Services

This page concerns the 3D work you will directly commission me for, it does not concerns the 3D assets you buy from my Ko-fi or Booth shops.

1) What type of content I make

I specialize in designing 3D worlds/assets to be used in VRChat as worlds: Hangout worlds (like Respite Island Remastered), atmospheric worlds (like Black Fire), worlds with simple Udon interactions such as Post-processing toggles, Udon prefabs (if you have the rights to use them commercially or if it's available for free) and simple made-by-me Udon programs if needed to fit the needs of your world.

2) What I can do and Content Restrictions

SFW Only: All content must be Safe For Work and appropriate. NSFW content including sexual, offensive/political material or anything deemed inappropriate won't be accepted for a commission.Asset Usage: I will primarily use assets that I made or have the right to use commercially. Using copyrighted assets (such as video game rips but not limited to) will not be possible, however I can use paid assets if you have the rights to them or if we come across a paid asset that fits the need of the world. If you do not have the rights to the assets (such as paid VRChat prefabs) you will have to purchase them first.World size: My primary focus is on creating smaller to medium-sized worlds with simple Udon interactions. For more advanced worlds with complex scripting or complex Udon features please send me a detailed description of your world idea for review before submitting the order. I will tell you if I am able to make it and discuss further options otherwise.

3) Eligibility and the commission's process

Acceptance of Commissions: I reserve the right to accept or deny any commission request at my sole discretion. This includes, but is not limited to, requests that go against my artistic style, my personal comfort or for any other reason that I deem appropriate.Time frame: I aim to complete the world commission within the agreed-on time frame. Depending on the complexity of the world this delay may vary from one to three months.Length of the project: Worlds estimated to be exceeding three months of development time may not be eligible for commission as I only do small and medium worlds. However if my own situation causes a delay (for example I've estimated 2 months of work but took three because of issues) then no extra fees will be charged.Revisions: Revisions will be included in the agreed-upon price throughout the entire creating process. Depending on how extensive a revision is (for exemple re-making a big portion of the world, having me re-do a lot from scratch) an additional fee that must be paid in full may be added before I proceed to make said adjustments.Bug fixes and issues: If after the world commission is finalized (as in uploaded and finished) any issues or bugs are spotted that are of my responsability (such as missing textures, typos etc) then I will fix them free of charges. However if some of those issues are the result of a VRChat update breaking a specific feature or prefab, I won't be able to fix it unless the prefab or VRChat gets an update.

4) Communication

Contact (This is only if we haven't been in contact yet concerning your current commission project): For our first contact please preferably use the commission form available on my main Carrd website, to ensure I get all the info needed to reply to you as quick and best as possible in one place. We will then switch to another platform for exchanging throughout the commission process if needed. I primarily use Discord for communication and small/medium file sharing such as references or small assets, however if you do not have a Discord account we can communicate through emails (prefered) or another platform that we both have.Updates on the world's progress: I will provide you with frequent updates on the world whenever I progress on it and will ask for your approval on anything I'm doing before continuing any further. Please keep me informed if your needs or ideas evolve throughout the process so it prevents any misunderstandings and ensures the world development goes nicely and smoothly!Details: Please give me the key details regarding the world in the commission form (theme, style, wanted features etc...) so I can tell you if I am able to work on your world project, if I do accept then we will go more in depth into the project and start working together! If I am unsure about something specific during the process I will ask you about it so you can decide what's best, if you aren't sure you can allow me to use artistic freedom and I will try to match the style of the world.Ask me if you have questions: Don't hesitate to ask questions or request clarification if anything is unclear, better double-check than proceed with assumptions!Delays and timezone: While I will respond to you as soon as possible there might be delays if you live outside of Europe, my timezone being CET (Central Europe Time).Files: After the world is finished I will inform you about it and give you a VRChat visit before finalizing the commission so you can review the world. If everything is alright the final files will be available to you through Google Drive. Please download the files as soon as possible! Unity projects are big & expensive in cloud storage and I have a limited cloud storage, preventing me from keeping them there indefinitely. So make sure to store a copy of the work somewhere as a backup. However, I will still keep a copy of your project for up to a year on my personal hard drive in case something happens to your files, but after this delay I will not be held responsible for the loss of your project's files.

5) Payment Terms & Ownership

Payment terms: Payment terms will be discussed and agreed upon before starting the commission work. Upon payment and completion you will own the copyright to the final world for personal use only (unless it was discusses and mentionned clearly that it applies for commercial use).Usage Restrictions: By default commissioned worlds are intended for personal use only and may not be resold or used commercially in any way outside of VRChat. If you want to use the world for commercial use please let me know before starting the commission, preferably in the commission form.Credits: If you post about my work online on social medias or anywhere please credit me using my BlueSky, VRChat, Ko-Fi account or linking my main Carrd website!I retain all rights to my work after completion. Please do not claim it as your own and credit me properly. You do not have permission to use my commission work, including its 3D assets, OSTs or anything I create in any databases/sets for AI training.

6) Refund policy

I understand that circumstances can change and sometimes commissions needs to be adjusted:Early stage: If you request a cancellation or refund before the start of active development (for exemple after discussing the world but before any major work begins) a full refund will be issued.Once the world has been in the making for some time and closer to completion the following applies:Planning stage: If the world already has some progress done to it (basic structure is completed, assets are modeled etc...) a partial refund may be possible depending on the amount of work already done.Significant progress made: After significant progress has been made or beyond (majority of assets are placed, Udon scripting is underway etc...) refunds may not be issued.Project finished: After completing the commission fully (everything is placed, scripts are finished etc...) a refund will not be issued.Exceptional circumstances: In exceptional cases (if something impacts my ability to complete the commission or anything else I consider fitting this case) I may offer a full or partial refund.
